Put Your Armor On

Dear Ones:

WE ARE WHAT WE CHOOSE TO BE.

In Charles Wesley‘s great hymn, “Soldiers of Christ Arise,” we read:

And put your armor on,
Strong in the strength which God supplies,
Through His eternal Son;
Strong in the Lord of Hosts,
And in His mighty power,
Who in the strength of Jesus trusts, 
Is more than conqueror.”

What happens if the soldier does NOT arise, and put his armor on?  What happens if the soldier does not trust  the “strength which God supplies”?  He will be trampled upon.  He will Continue reading

The Finding of His Face

Dear Ones:

How can we know that God is near?

David was conscious of God’s nearness. “For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.” (Psalm 139:4)  David was aware that God knew all of his thoughts and words.  But on an even more intimate level David wrote, “When Thou saidst, Seek ye may face; my heart said unto Thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.” (Psalm 27:8)  David heard God’s call to seek His face and he answered that call. A River Like None Other

Dear Ones:

The Apostle John wrote in the book of Revelation: “And He showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.” (Revelation 22:1)

In his gospel John also wrote: “On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and DRINK.  He who BELIEVES in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow RIVERS of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive…” (John 7:37-39) Continue reading

A Shared Vision

Dear Ones:

This morning as I reflected on my early Christian life two thoughts came to mind.

Firstly, “Life reduced to fellowship with Christ makes the complicated simple.” This truth was drilled into me at bible school.

Secondly, I remember a conference I attended. The speaker was Dr. Robert Smith. He was a brilliant man yet very humble. Everyone called him Dr. Bob. His vision of the sacrifice of Christ left a lasting impression upon me. He spoke of Continue reading
